halloween parties

i just don't know if there's anything greater than halloween parties. costume contests, tasty treats, and spooky decorations- i love it all.

last weekend was completely party-packed, and we wouldn't have had it any other way. on friday night, i helped my friend tawny throw a party for a few of our friends. the night was filled to the brim  with delicious snacks, funny costumes, and lots of games (including multiple rounds of cards against humanity... because how can you not?)

we ended up winning "funniest costume", and i'm pretty sure i took the cake for "most uncomfortable costume" as well...

 i literally laugh everytime i see this picture of kendrick.. we call it "bob ross and his bedroom eyes".

on saturday, we had our annual family halloween party. luckily, i was able to just reuse all of the decorations from the night before!

this year, "best costume" hands down went to aaron, nicole, and their little family. they came as the characters in the movie "up", and i just don't know if i have ever seen anything cute than myla as a little boy scout.

let's get scared

probably my absolute favorite thing about october is haunted houses. and i don't mean just one visit, no, i mean going to at least three or four for the month.

...and that's exactly what i did.

and the winner for this year? nightmare on 13th, hands down.

 ...it's okay to say that i have a problem. because, i do. i really, really do.

witches night out

can i just say how grateful i am to have a husband that will go to witches night out with me not one, but three years in a row. however, this year i was nice and made sure there was no utes game on during the shindig ;)

my parents, danny & wendy, nicole & aaron, and all the kiddos came out as well which made it so much better. chris and jade met up with us a little later, and we saw them for a few minutes before they met up with jade's friends.

as the night went on, we decided to stop at a food truck for a soda and treat. after waiting for about ten minutes, it was finally our turn to order. when it was time to pay, we were told that they only accepted cash (which we never carry). i handed back my cupcake and drink since i couldn't pay, when the nice stranger behind me called me back and paid for both of my items. i love kind strangers! i thanked her profusely and everyone behind her in line clapped. hahaha

breakfast in the canyons

harmony, jeff, and their little family were in town over the weekend for jeff's brothers wedding (which also meant all of jeff's family was in town as well!). on sunday morning, we all met in cottonwood canyon for some breakfast and our annual pumpkin chocolate chip cookie party. the morning was spent playing with all of my darling nieces and nephews (if you can't tell by the pictures below, i pretty much adore them), playing football and chatting, and lots of family pictures. 

so grateful for family and beautiful fall days. 

the pumpkin patch

one of my very favorite things to do each autumn is go to the pumpkin patch. yes, i realize it's really just a field full of plump vegetables, but what better way to get in the fall spirit than gorgeous hues of orange, bales of hay, crisp bottles of root beer, and fresh apple cider?

apparently, kendrick and i were on completely different missions. i was on the hunt for the perfect ones, while kendrick was eager to find the ugliest and bumpiest. i gave in and agreed to get a huge, warty gourd, and then filled out wheelbarrow up with plenty of cute plump ones to make up for it.

once the pumpkins were tagged and weighed, we proceeded to the cash register to get our final total... which ended up being quite higher than what we'd normally spend on decorative vegetables..but october comes once a year right? (admittedly, i asked the cashier if we could put some back, and he said we'd have to wait in the super long line again to re-weigh them, and hard pass on that).

grateful for my cute husband who is willing to tag along with me through all our fall-ish activities, because let's be honest, i go a little nuts.
