it's a sprinkle, not a shower

over the weekend, my cute sisters and I had the privilege of throwing wendy a baby "sprinkle" for her new little girl. my dad tirelessly made fun of the fact that we were calling it a "sprinkle", instead of a "shower", but we thought it should be more low-key with this being her third child (but first girl!) however, I must say, in relation to her gifts- she was definitely more "showered" then sprinkled. ;)

knowing me, I waited until the night before to create the decorations, but I was really happy with how my pom-pom rain clouds and glittery rain drops turned out!
harmony brought the cutest banner to drape across the mantel, along with all the components for a delicious parfait bar.
nicole and jade covered the desserts, which included a delicious assortment of chocolate dipped oreos, confetti cupcakes, and mini cheesecakes (all covered in sprinkles, of course!)
I'd say the highlight of the shower was watching jade triumph in transporting sprinkles from one bowl to another, using only a spoon held by her mouth. I'm telling you, the talents that girl has...
watching wendy open all of her presents was definitely another highlights. what is it about little girl dresses and shoes that is so unbelievably cute?

(every time I see a cute little baby dress in the store, I have to hold myself back from buying it. that's not weird, right...? right.)
it was the perfect afternoon.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, my sisters and I make a good team.

weekend organizing

what kind of respectable weekend is spent organizing, you may ask. a great one, that's what kind.
kendrick and I spent half of our saturday cleaning out our closet, ironing shirts, and creating a rather large "discard" pile. I was able to round up a pretty nice sized stack to sell in my shop, so that's always a success in itself (I tend to create emotional attachments with my clothes, and parting is never easy).

we finally decided to get ready (and ahem, shower) around five o'clock to meet up with one of kendrick's work friends and his wife for some dinner. they ended up bringing their baby girl, which was one of theeee cutest babies I've ever seen and kind of made me want one (kind of). kendrick ended up texting his friend the next morning saying "thanks for bringing your super cute baby you ass, now my wife wants one just like it." haha!

tonight we are meeting up with some friends at bombay house, and I am pretty excited to stuff my face with delicious indian food. what's better than friends and good food? nothing I tell you, nothing.

the ball drop

no, i'm not referring to the infamous ball drop in new york city at the end of each year. i'm talkin' about the highly anticipated game at nickle mania that is just as addictive, if not more, than cocaine (not speaking from experience)

this is how we spent our friday night- a group of twenty-four-and-up year olds (and a newly 16 year old), hovered around an arcade game, cheering and fist pumping each time the button was pushed just in time for the ball to drop smoothly into the hole. I think total, we scored around three thousand tickets off that game alone- and don't even ask how many nickels it took to get there... (but can you think of a more fun way to spend money?)
kendrick celebrating after one of his victories.

my game of choice is those nickel slots that you slip your coin in, causing it to push the other nickels forward, and a certain amount of tickets is awarded depending on how many coins fall over the edge. this game is vigorously addicting, and kendrick says watching me play it gives him a glimpse of my future as an old lady in vegas fixated with the penny slots. I sure married a charmer, huh?
it was such a fun night acting like twelve year olds and spending half our life savings in nickels. but i mean, priorities, right?
keep em' coming.

here's to many more night that make me wish I was in middle school again.

starting the year off right...

it's official! the airline tickets are purchased, the rental car and hotel rooms are booked, and we can hardly wait. we are headed to san francisco at the end of next month for a fun little get-away! I haven't been since I was little, and this will be kendrick's first time. so you could say we are pretty excited!

because what better way is there to start off 2016 than a trip to this pretty city?
none. there is no other way.

i'm loving it

i'm currently loving...

- the new star wars movie. kendrick and I saw it again last night, and we have no plans of stopping.

- reese's christmas trees. walmart sold out of them right before christmas, but kendrick found bags for one dollar at walgreens... so he bought ten. ten bags, that is.

- a finished bedroom. it literally took three months to get it together, but we forced ourselves to buy the remaining items over christmas break (that included lamp shades, a canvas, duvet cover, bed skirt, and some throw pillows). also, side story- when shopping for lampshades, we finally settled on a couple of threshold ones at target, thinking they were twenty dollars each. well, I kid you not, they rang up as $2.98 each. I wish I could say we technically "saved" money, but seeing how cheap they were, I quickly filled our cart up with more things. go figure.

(this reminds me of growing up with my financially sound older sister. anytime I would come across a sale, I would buy everything, whether I needed it or not. my logic behind it all? I would say to my sister "but harmony, it's forty percent off!" and she'd rebuttal with, "no, kim, it's sixty percent on".)
- "k" mugs. I honestly cannot resist any mug that has a "k" on it. (I promise I'm not self-obsessed, as the letter stands for both my and kendrick's name.) I especially can't resist any monogrammed mug that anthropologie puts out.
- big daddy's pizza. I am not even going to admit how many of their pizzas we devour throughout the span of a week, but if you've never tried one, do yourself a big fat favor and get one pronto. also, on mondays their pizzas are $3.99, and who can resist a deal? not I.

- park city outlets. I had previously mentioned this, but we did some shopping there last week, and we got steals and deals on wheels. also, who doesn't love a day spent in park city?

- the food network. we are literally addicted to cooking shows. we especially love competitions, like chopped, iron chef america, or cut throat kitchen. however, we'll honestly watch anything on that channel. throw in some alton brown and giada de laurentis, and you know we're in.

- our nieces and nephews. okay, technically, this isn't a "currently" love, because we always love them, but they are all at such fun ages right now! last night, we got to babysit little zoey, and were both completely overwhelmed by the cuteness. kendrick even said that if we were guaranteed a little girl just like her, we'd have one now. but... we know that can't be guaranteed, so we aren't doing anything rash. ;)
- the bachelor. the season literally just started, but I can already tell it's going to be a good one. I honestly haven't watched the show in about two years, as my friends and I used to watch it during girl nights every monday. however, once people started getting married or going on missions, the tradition quickly died. it's nice to be back at it.  (also, now I have a cute husband watching it with me! he won't admit he likes it yet, but I know he's entertained).

new years eve

our new years eve was simple and low-key, which is admittedly how I prefer most things lately (I may or may not be turning into a hermit). I started the day off cleaning, organizing, and dejunking our closets. surprisingly, I had taken down all the christmas decorations the night before, which is pretty much unheard of when it comes to me. however, starting the new year off with a clutter-free and clean house sounded like the perfect blank slate to me.

we dropped a box of old home decor items off at the di before heading on over to in n' out for some lunch. after a delicious meal of burgers and fries, we were off to the riverton hospital to meet our new niece.

danny and wendy decided to name their new baby girl olive, which has honestly never even crossed my mind, but I think it's the cutest name ever and they're lucky they got to it before I could. I did learn that another one of their top contenders was a name that kendrick and I are ninety-five percent set on using for our future baby girl, and now I'm living in fear that someone else in my family will use it before we get around to having kids. first world problems, right?
aaaaaanyways, olive is such a little beauty with a head full of dark hair. it's pretty surreal seeing danny and wendy with a little girl, as they've had only boys for the past six years!
(please excuse the necklace, kendrick isn't the best at telling me when something doesn't look good when taking my picture, haha)
kendrick with a baby though... ;)

we headed home after the hospital where we met up with colin and sara. the rest of the night was spent playing games, drinking martinellis, and trying out a delicious new restaurant. it was honestly such a fun night and the perfect low-key new years eve I was looking for. we ended the night with watching the ball drop and some kisses at midnight, obviously.
I'm so excited for what 2016 has in store! I'm already planning our next travel destination... yeah, I don't waste any time.

happy new year!
